Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (AMDA) Clinical Elective Programme

AMSA Singapore would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia, Dr Shigeru Suganami (Founder & President of AMDA International), and Dr Don Lau (Chairperson of AMDA Singapore) for partnering with our organisation in providing our local medical students with unique and meaningful clinical clerkship programmes. 

In the academic year of 2017/18, we will be launching our first AMDA Nepal Elective programme which comprises a 4 week Clinical Internship Programme at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Kathmandu and a short attachment period at the AMDA Nepal Bhutanese Refugee Camp. 

Main Aims of the AMDA Clinical Elective

Through this programme, medical students will be exposure to clinical medicine in less developed hospital settings while learning more about the healthcare system and medical infrastructure of Nepal. The unique attachment to the AMDA Nepal Bhutanese Refugee Camp would serve to provide medical students with insights on the living environment and lifestyles of the Bhutanese refugees. With the time spent under the great mentors of AMDA Nepal, we hope to inspire the next generation of doctors in practicing global medicine and joining abroad to provide humanitarian aid around the world. 

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

All medical students are invited to participate in the programme and the recruitment dates of the elective programme will be disseminated to all AMSA Singapore members through our newsfeed. We will only be accepting medical students in their clinical years as the dates of the programme would coincide with the clinical elective dates of the respective medical schools.
