Project Heads Up
Hello everyone! We are Project Heads Up, an Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Singapore initiative with students from the Lee Kong Chian and Yong Loo Lin Schools of Medicine working in collaboration with KK Women and Children’s Hospital.
The team at Project Heads Up has been working over the past year to support and expand existing measures targeted towards reducing screen use among young children through a variety of activities involving public outreach, education, and advocacy on a national, regional, and global level. We aspire to form partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organisations to raise awareness and influence positive action on a global level about excessive screen use in young children. We are raising awareness in Singapore by doing public outreach to parents, educators and the general public.
On top of raising awareness in Singapore, we are making a regional and global impact by engaging in discussions with other countries such as Hong Kong, the Philippines and Thailand to implement initiatives and address the problem of excessive screen use among children in their local contexts.

Advocacy and Public Outreach
We are happy to say that we have conducted numerous successful campaigns reaching out to parents and educators raising awareness and educating them about healthy screen use for young children. We have also spoken to key stakeholders such as schools, healthcare institutions, and government ministries, advocating for sustainable change to tackle this issue on a national level.
Project Heads Up remains engaged with our partners to see our mission through to the end. Find out more about our campaigns below:
Screen Free Day 2022: This year, AMSA Singapore is rallying with its international IFMSA counterparts in hosting Screen Free Day 2022! An entire day is dedicated towards the event for participants to fill their time with alternatives to their mobile devices.
Resources
Project Heads Up has prepared and produced numerous materials directed towards education against unhealthy screen usage.
In case you missed it, the team at Project Heads Up has created educational materials and hosted a webinar to spread awareness and educate the public on the issue of screen use. We’ve also written an advocacy document calling on institutions to promote the adoption of screen use guidelines for children. Staying true to our purpose of spreading advocacy and achieving public outreach, we are proud of the resources we have prepared for parents and educators and are excited to continue sharing them!
